Umm Waraqa أم ورقة بنت عبد الله بن الحارث

Full Name: Umm Waraqah bint ‘Abdullah b. Al-Harith Ansariah.

Arabic: أم ورقة بنت عبد الله بن الحارث

Other Names: Umm Waraqa.

Origin: Mecca.

Famous for: One of the female companions of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.

At the battle of Badr, she asked the Holy Prophet’s (S.A.W) permission to join the Muslim army in order to treat the wounded for she might win the Martyrdom. The Holy Prophet (S.A.W) said to her; “Allah would grant you Martyrdom. Stay home you are a Martyr.

Contribution:

Umm Waraqah was one of very few people to have memorized the entire Qur’an.

She was one of its few oral transmitters before it was recorded in writing.
