Al-Zarqali إبراهيم بن يحيى الزرقالي

Full Name: Abū Isḥāq Ibrāhīm ibn Yaḥyā al-Naqqāsh al-Zarqālī al-Tujibi.

Arabic: إبراهيم بن يحيى الزرقالي

Other Names: Al-Zarkali or Ibn Zarqala, al-Zarqālluh, Arzachel or Arsechieles.

Born: c. 1029.

Died: c. 1100.

Origin: Toledo, Spain.

Famous for: Astronomical instruments and an Astrologer.

Contributions: 

His invention of the Saphaea (a perfected astrolabe) proved very popular and was widely used by navigators until the 16th century, known as “the tablet of al-Zarqālī” (al-ṣafīḥā al-zarqāliyya).

Al-Zarqālī also contributed to the famous Tables of Toledo.
