Zaynab Al Shahda

Zaynab Al Shahda زينب الشهداء

Zaynab Al Shahada was a famous 12th century calligrapher.

Full Name: Zaynab Al Shahda daughter of Ahmed al-Abri.

Arabic:  زينب الشهداء

Origin: Baghdad originally from Dinawar

Born: 7th or 10th Century.

Known for: Fiqh & hadiths, in addition to her calligraphy.

She was highly praised and positioned, & was appointed as teacher of Yaqut, the last Abbasid Caliph.

Contribution:

Many paintings in their beautiful calligraphy, and some of these paintings are still found today in Islamic museums.
